Bipolar Disorder (manic-depression)

Bipolar disorder, also called manic-depression, is an illness that affects the brain. It causes periods of extremely high mood, or mania, and periods of very low mood, or depression, know as 'episodes'.

Everyone has 'ups and downs', good days and bad days. With bipolar disorder, these ups and downs are far more extreme. However, with the proper treament and support, people with bipolar disorder can lead full and productive lives
